The light of a star shines due to the darkness that surrounds it. This charm is called the Lone Star because it is indeed a star all on its own. Did you know that Texas got it's nickname the Lone Star state because the independent Republic of Texas' original flag featured a lone star, which signified it's defiance when fighting for independence from Mexico. While the star was a symbol of pride, more than anything, the star was a symbol of independence.
